To prepare the DANINI soaps we use herb oils (coconut, olive, palm and castor oil), sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and distilled water. We use a cold saponification process. In the process itself, the soda is a strong base, and reacts with the fatty acids of the oils. The products of this reaction are the soap, glycerol and water. The water evaporates during the drying of the soap (within 4 to 6 weeks). The glycerin remains as an extraordinary humectant of the soap. At the end of the procedure, before the soap is poured into the molds, we add herbs (marigold, nettle), honey, green clay, active charcoal, coffee, mineral pigments, Vitamin E, natural silk, essential oils for improving soap quality, and its form and a kind of natural preservatives and antioxidants.
The base in reaction with the acid yields salt. Therefore, the soap in its chemical content is Salt. In its final composition there is no soda, no oils, unless one percent excess oil is left for additional skin care. All of the ingredients we use for making soaps are natural, except for NaOH (sodium hydroxide) without which soap cannot be made. The glycerin remains in the soap. It is a humectant, which means it attracts water and thus provides hydration to our skin.
